Friday 13th Style Superstitions

Its almost the end of the summer holidays, and we all want to be lazing around outside in shorts and vests. Well GUESS WHAT. We're in England and its raining. Count your luck though, an hour ago it was hailing! But then again this is Friday the 13th, officially the unluckiest day of the year, so I thought it would be appropriate to talk about some of the funniest style related superstitions!

  • It is apparently very bad luck to put on a hat in bed. Well you never know what problems hats can lead to.
  • My mum had a hissy fit one day when I put some newly purchased trainers on the table. "What?" I said. "There not dirty, there brand new!" But apparently putting new shoes on a table is a crime akin to walking under a ladder. And you never knew....
  • Breaking a mirror is a common superstition, supposedly giving you 7 years bad luck. Well it could certainly put you in a bad mood for the rest of the day: glass replacing is probably pretty expensive!
  • And of course wedding traditions are abundant. Becuse we all need something borrowed, something new, something old and something blue for a happy marriage!
  • May the 1st is the day to look beautiful. Washing your face with dew in the early morning is supposed to give you true beauty. More likely though you'll end up with a pounding headache from getting up at the crack of dawn!
Here's to good luck on Friday 13th! xx
