Black Heels Galore

Every girl should own a pair of skyscraper black heels that go with everything and make you look instantly glamorous. There's something about heels, isn't there? Something about putting on a pair of shoes with a blister-forming, impractical heel attached and you walk, talk and act differently. If you've been there, you wont dispute it. I already have a pair, but, a girl needs a back up option and frankly I'm getting bored of my old ones, so me and my loyal shopping friend Sarah went out hunting for some cute black heels. There was only one place we had to look: the Oxford street Topshop shoe floor! Here are our finds:

             These buckle, nude stitches trimmed
shoes are from Kurt Geiger, and are
surprisingly comfortable to walk in.
These lace up shoe boots are Kurt Geiger, and are great for extending legs, so would look fierce with a mini dress/skirt. They were really uncomfortable though, so I don't think I'll be getting them.

We tried on these 7 inch towering stillettos
for a laugh, and trust me, they delivered.
You literally can't walk in them. They're
incredible though, and I now have new
founded respect for the likes of Lady
Gaga and Dita Von Teese!

I looked for ages, but none of the shoes really caught my eye. I'll be hunting down my perfect pair in the January sales, so watch this space!

Animal hats

The surprise accessory trend of the season is animal hats! You'll probably have seen the popular River Island panda hat worn by many teenagers (below right), and I'm seeing huge furry hats everywhere. These hats are so popular mainly due to the arctic winter we've been having, which requires extremely warm accessories. But no one wants to look like they're off ski-ing every time they go out, and these hats hit the right line between quirky and cool. The best place to shop is definitely River Island, which has a huge range. Most high street shops feature them, in particular Topshop.

All Over Faux Fur Trapper Hat

This is the Topshop take on the trapper fur hat, which looks great as a rule, but steer clear of it if you've got small features. You'd be better off in a quirky beanie, like my friend Georgia is wearing.
This is me on the left in my River Island bear trapper hat. I love it because it is extremely soft and comfy, cute and goes with everything.
On the right is my friend Sarah in a Topshop.... not quite sure what kind of animal it is, but its adorable.

Keep stylish in the freeze!

The Ultimate in Seasonal Party Dresses

Christmas/ The New Year is upon us, and the annual challenge of a memorable, figure flattering, adaptable party dress is here again, the main issue being that you will probably have to wear it more then once, and as all photo evidence ends up facebook it is all to easy to be labelled as a FRO- Frequent Repeater of Outfits. I will be dedicating several posts to one of my favourite fashion time of year, so to start off here are two of my friends glamorous outfits. Merry Christmas!

These two drop dead gorgeous girls wore these dresses to a Cadets dinner, believe it or not! The girl on the left's dress works because of the stylish, oversized, brocade pattern, with contrasting metallic and black colours- very on trend. The hourglass, strapless silhouette creates an effortlessly sophisticated look. The whole look is decadent and gorgeous, and perfect for Christmas!

The dress on the right's full design is hard to make out, so I've included an image from H&M's website.

The dress is a little bit, um, amazing? If I didn't already own a black lace dress, and my friend hadn't got there first... The bodycon nature is balanced out by sheer mid-length sleeves,
and the lace fabric adds interest to a classic LBD. It's cute and extremely versatile, and can be worn to an array of parties, styled up in different ways. You could also wear it dressed down with a leather bomber jacket, thick tights and chunky boots. (Doc Martens?)

Both the girls opted for glamorous, natural wavy hair and neutral make up. They both look classy beyond their years and beautiful.

Style Icon: Rihanna

Some people are just legends. They are talented, gorgeous and just generally amazing. Rihanna, in my opinion is one of them. As well as her incredible songs and performing (especially on the X Factor recently: take note Justin fans, good singers don't have to mime) she holds a considerable reputation as a style icon. Here are a few of my favourite looks:

In Rihanna's most recent release "What's my Name' this supremely cool outfit caught my eye, in particular the DIVINE jacket. I love most stripy blazers, and the cropped, vintage feel of this is just adorable. I also love the, umm multi-coloured, zebra print hot pants with sheer thigh-highs. Only Rihanna could look so truly cool in this. And lets not forget her tomato-red hair transformation: what a girl!

This Marchesa dress is a work of art! The intricate black and white floral cut outs and incredible structure is stunning. One of my favourite runway looks of 2009. She looks absolutely gorgeous.

I had to include this moment of fashion history. Right before this event, the scandal involving Chris Brown's violence was at its peak, Rihanna hadn't been seen for days and had primarily favoured mainstream, generic clothes and hair. Now, I know its a ridiculous, oversized, puff-shouldered tuxedo. But it is Dolce and Gabbana, her hair is legendary and I love it. I think it is an androgynous masterpiece. Go the girls.

Little Black Dress

Me & Sarah's LBDs
First off, I wanted to apologise for not updating my blog for so long. I have been so busy lately with general GCSEs (I know, I know its a rubbish excuse) and an amazing but time consuming play so have had to stop my blog for a while. But now my life has calmed down a bit, and I'm sick of getting verbally abused for not updating this, I'm back, and solemnly swear to wrote a post at least once a week. And if I don't all my friends have permission to hit me.
Results of the poll: had a grand 27 votes on your shoe of A/W, and the incredibly on-trend lace up boots won by 60%. Its easy to see why they are so loved, they look superb when contrasted with a little floral dress/skirt, tucked into skinny jeans or dressed down with leggings/baggy jeans. The eternally comfortable Uggs came second with 44%, and loafers came last with a pitiful 0%.
Gorgeous shoes
Onto the fashion essential, the classic yet 100% modern Little Black Dress! Me and my friend Sarah went shopping, partly for halloween outfits, partly for glamarous LBDs for the December party season. We found our favourite, well-priced dresses in Miss Selfridge with my friend Sarah. I ended up buying the strapless velvet one, as it was a bargain at £20! I wear it with my patent lace-up brouges to de-slutitise the outfit, but it looks great with these awesome stilettos we tried on from Miss Selfridge. I couldn't afford them, but they are definitely the perfect glamorous party heels.  So my LBD is covered, next I'll be doing a post about the perfect colourful & quirky christmas dress
 I've found.
Keep stylish!

My Fashion Inspiration

Where does your fashion inspiration come from? Mine comes from magazines, designers, the internet- but most of all from my friends! That's why when I go to a party, I always have a camera (Or get an organised friend to bring a camera) to snap some of my most stylish friends' outfits. Here are the results, and Happy Birthday to K!!!

-The birthday girl looking very stylish in the jumper of the season: oversized stripes! H&M have a great range, such as this one. Team with a body-con skirt for a simple, chic yet effortless look.

-Had to put these shoes up! From Urban outfitters, they are gladiator and vintage and just AWESOME at the same time. I do salute my friend, who never fails to impress with her shoes. And the red nail varnish ties off the look!

-Oh, I do love an outfit that combines layers of granddad chic jumper and knitted scarf with a floral dress and cute lace ups. I don't know which element I love the most, the oversized grey sweater: very A/W 2010 or the dainty florals. All in all this is a gorgeous look!

-Finishing off with this adorable outfit. I squealed when I saw it in all its cuteness! Firstly: the statement velvet black blazer. A cool vintage feel, but then made ultimately modern by teaming it with a great
slogan T-shirt and above all, the bright green satchel.
Who would have thought this would be such a classic bag?
I love it, and I love the cool lace up boots. A great example of accessories making the outfit!

Thanks for a great night and loads of style inspiration guys! xxxx
